THE ELECTRICITY GENERATING STATIONS (APPLICATIONS FOR VARIATION OF CONSENT) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2013
THE ELECTRICITY WORKS (ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2017 (AS AMENDED)
Notice is hereby given that Chirmorie Wind Farm Ltd, company registration number 09171934, with its Registered Office at 22-24 King Street, Maidenhead, SL6 1EF, has applied to the Scottish Ministers to vary the section 36 consent to construct and operate a wind farm known as Chirmorie Wind Farm, near Barrhill, South Ayrshire (Central Grid Reference NX190 770) previously consented on 22nd April 2020 by the Scottish Ministers (“variation application”). The proposed variation is subject to Environmental Report (ER). An ER has been produced to accompany the variation application for consent.
The variation application seeks to make the following variations:
- increase the tip height of the 21 consented wind turbines from a maximum of 146.5m to a maximum of 149.9m (variation 1);
- introduce a temporary construction phase access route from Barrhill (with no abnormal loads) along the C72 to site to facilitate the construction of the eastern abutment of the consented bridge over the railway which bisects the wind farm site (essential works required for bridge construction), the construction of the platform of the sub-station and the initial section of access track, all consented and within the wind farm (variation 2);
- introduce an alternative route for access from the south west of Chirmorie wind farm for construction and for operational traffic (including associated infrastructure but excluding construction of the bridge components and sub-station preparation to be carried out using the access sought under variation 2). This route would largely follow the route consented for Stranoch wind farm, from the A77 near Innermessan by means of a public road (U90W) then access track through Stranoch wind farm with a link track to Chirmorie wind farm (variation 3); and
- introduce three borrow pits and a temporary construction compound (all consented for Stranoch wind farm) which are the closest to the proposed alternative access track (variation 4).
A summary of the variation application, a copy of the variation application, a copy of the original section 36 consent and section 57 direction decision letter and the ER prepared in relation to the proposed varied development are available for public viewing on the application website: www.chirmoriewindfarm.co.uk and on the Scottish Government Energy Consents website at www.energyconsents.scot under application reference ECU00002156.
